Absolutely stunning 94-year-old Art Deco vintage BULOVA ‘CRUSADER’ wrist watch, made in 1929 and in beautiful restored condition. 15-jewel BULOVA 10AN hand wound mechanical movement just SERVICED, CLEANED AND OILED IN SEPTEMBER 2023.
Width: 26mm, excluding crown.
Length: 29mm without lugs; 36mm total length including lugs.
Thickness: 10mm, including crystal.
Viewable dial/crystal: 22mm x 25mm.
Strap: 16mm tapering slightly to 14mm at the buckle.
Wrist fitting: The watch should fit a wrist size of between 155mm and 185mm
The white gold-filled tonneau/barrel-shape case features ornate filigree engraving distinctive to the 1929 Bulova Crusader model.
The hinged case-back operates as it should and snaps shut securely. When opened, it reveals the mechanical movement within which is protected by its original plastic dust cover. The inside back is marked BULOVA QUALITY together with the patent date for this type of case. The case serial number starting with 9, on a Bulova of this era and with this particular movement, signifies a manufacture date of 1929.
This watch is powered by a good-quality Swiss-made BULOVA 15-jewel 10AN hand-wound mechanical movement complete with its original protective dust cover. The 10AN was manufactured from 1925 until 1937 and features a Breguet hairspring, as used by many high-end watch companies, including Rolex, and noted for aiding more consistent timekeeping throughout the duration of the wind.
This particular movement is stamped with Bulova’s shield date code for 1929, matching the date of the case itself.
