Description
Originating from Czech Republic this vase not has the wow factor with it's very distinctive green colouring and jet black enamel accents but is a great size standing just over 19 cm. Condition is very good, I couldn't find any damage or flaws to note only some very minor light surface scratches to the base. Typical of Palda glass, this vase has the iconic reverse etched stylized floral accents. It also has the most fabulous geometric patterning that Art Deco collectors will appreciate. The enamel is bright and crisp and free from any oxidation often found of enamel from the 30's. The baluster shape is the ideal shape to display any floral offerings and the vase itself being generously decorated on all sides and angles makes it the perfect piece for display just on it's own as well.
The most common color of uranium glass is pale yellowish-green, which in the 1930s led to the nickname "Vaseline glass" based on a perceived resemblance to the appearance (which was a yellow-green colour) of Vaseline brand petroleum jelly as formulated and commercially sold at that time. This vase definitely won't disappoint, we defy the new owner not to fall in love it.
